Is It Really
Almost 2020?
First day of November already – yowza!! And with that, folks are already looking into what trends to expect for the new year. Recently Whole Foods came out with their top 10 food trend predictions for 2020, which includes regenerative agriculture, meat-plant blends, new flour options, everything butters and spreads, West African foods, and more. Let’s dig deeper into a few. Regenerative agriculture means farming and grazing practices that restore degraded soil, improve biodiversity, and increase carbon capture for positive environmental impact. Nuts and seeds are slated to be turned into butters (outside of the cashew, almond, peanuts, and tahini that we’re used to). Hello watermelon seed butter and Chickpea Butter (which by the way Field Trip has just recently released). And finally, rich, earthy dishes made with a trio of tomatoes, onions, and chili are a base for many West African dishes. Lots of exciting food trends to look forward to in 2020!
Power to Make Change
Companies To Lead The Way
Based on a 2019 Porter Novelli/Cone Gen Z Purpose Study, 87% of Gen Z-ers are worried for the environment and the planet. This generation feels personally responsible to make a difference, and 90% believe companies must take action on social and environmental issues. 93% say if a company makes a commitment, then their actions need to follow with programs and policies that support that commitment, and 75% will do research on the company to ensure they walk the talk. Gen Z is also willing to chip in by sharing their positive opinion about a company doing good (85%), buying a product with a social or environment benefit (84%) and learning what they can do to support (84%). Real change up ahead – are y’all ready?
